NFA items, regulated by the National Firearms Act of 1934, include suppressors (silencers), short-barreled rifles (SBRs, rifles with barrels under 16 inches or overall length under 26 inches), short-barreled shotguns (SBSs), machine guns, destructive devices, and “any other weapons” (AOWs). These items require federal registration, a background check, and, until December 31, 2025, a $200 tax stamp per item (except AOWs, which are $5).

Starting January 1, 2026, the $200 tax stamp for suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs will be eliminated, though registration and background checks remain.

Visit https://eforms.atf.gov to create an ATF eForms account. This ensures seamless integration during the Form 4 submittal process. Choose a unique username and a four-digit PIN, and memorize both, as you’ll need them to certify your Form 4 later. We prepare the application packet with you (including Responsible Person Questionnaire for trusts) and submit it electronically — often the same day.

Once you receive your ATF approval email notification, return to the shop to complete ATF form 4473, transferring the item to you. Remember, always keep a copy of your tax stamp with the item!

• Tax Stamp Change: Starting January 1, 2026, the $200 tax stamp for suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs is eliminated per H.R.1, but Form 4 registration and background checks remain. Machine guns and destructive devices still require the $200 tax. If you file before 2026, the tax applies.
• State Compliance: Suppressors and SBRs are legal in Florida, but ensure compliance with local Naples or Collier County ordinances. SBRs are restricted in some states, so verify legality if transferring out-of-state.
